Dr. Rao joined the group from Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.  He is a graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of California - San Diego.  Dr. Rao then completed a Preventive and Integrative Cardiology Fellowship at the Scripps Medical Center in La Jolla California.   He went on to complete his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
After completing his training Dr. Rao was a member of the academic faculty at Georgetown University and Washington Hospital Center for two years.  In that role, he was active in caring for patients with complex cardiovascular disorders and advanced heart failure, along with running a large lipid clinic and being a member of a nationally recognized cardiovascular imaging team.
Dr. Rao is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is a Diplomate with the National Board of Echocardiography and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.  He is also a member of the American College of Cardiology, Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and the National Lipid Association.
Dr. Rao is currently on the staff of NCH and will be serving both the NCH - Downtown and NCH - North Collier hospitals and will be seeing patients in Naples and Bonita Springs.  His special interests include preventive cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, heart failure, and critical care.
