Janet received a baccalaureate degree cum laude from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Lake Erie College Physician Assistant Program in Ohio in 1979. Upon graduation she was invited to join the Cardiology Department at the Cleveland Clinic where she practiced as a Physician Assistant for 25 years in all subspecialties of Cardiology. While working at the Cleveland Clinic she earned a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Ursuline College, and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing in 1991.
 
She became interested in Cardiology research while working with the Chief of Electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic, and collaborated on research abstracts accepted for presentations at national professional societies. She transferred from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio to Naples in 2005 to join the Cardiology practice at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
 
In addition to being a member of the SWICFT Institute team, she is a full-time professor for the Nova Southeastern University Southwest Florida Physician Assistant program.
